Hello
Welcome to The 2nd Opinion!
I’m Pam Wyatt-Skoff, BSN, RN, and I created this space to share the perspective I’ve gained from years of nursing, hospice care, home health, and teaching. Healthcare can be overwhelming, and patients often leave with more questions than answers. This blog is here to offer clarity, compassion, and a nurse’s voice you can trust—because one answer isn’t always enough.
My Story
My path to nursing has taken me through nearly every corner of healthcare: from starting IV infusions in homes, to walking families through hospice care, to guiding nursing students in the classroom. I’ve worked in hospitals, clinics, schools, and even as a director of nursing. Each role taught me something new about people, resilience, and the gaps that still exist in our healthcare system.
Along the way, I realized that what patients and families need most is someone to translate the medical jargon, explain options clearly, and stand by them when choices feel overwhelming. That’s why I started A 2nd Opinion: to bring real nursing insight to everyday healthcare decisions.
Here, I share stories from the front lines, practical tips for navigating medical bills and insurance, and guidance on knowing when to seek a second opinion. My mission is simple: to empower you with knowledge, so you can feel confident and cared for on your health journey.
